Benzino is looking towards embracing more positive energy after revealing that he wants to bury the hatchet with Eminem while also sharing his thoughts about his daughter Coi Leray getting back with Trippie Redd.
In an interview with TMZ Hip-Hopthe 59-year-old reflected on his decades-long feud with Eminem, which he apparently wants to end as there’s no more room for negativity. Benzino proved it by saying he congratulated Em for becoming a new grandfather.
“At 59 years old enough is enough like come on man. Like, listen you know I have four children. I’m not a grandfather yet. The irony is that he did say nobody wanted to hear their grandpa rap on [‘Nail in the Coffin’],” said Benzino. “After all these years I’m saying man wouldn’t it be something if he was a grandfather before me? I swear I used to think that.”
He continued, “This is a moment of joy and I’m glad I have this platform and I want to congratulate him again on being a grandfather and his daughter Hailey. Eminem has touched a lot of people. Our situation, back-and-forth I just want everybody to know it’s hip-hop. Battling in hip-hop has been since day one okay and I don’t want people to think that I wish any harm on him or any bad intentions, streetwise.”
Benzino added that people who love Em aren’t the “average hip-hop” fans but said squashing their beef would do so much for the culture. He also stated that his wish is to be able to one day sit down with Eminem and have a “real conversation.”
“I really wanna be this guy’s friend,” Benzino said of Em. “I don’t wanna be his enemy no more…. I just feel like I’m at the age where I wanna lead by example.” He added that, aside from leading by example, ending the beef would help cut down on all the heat he catches on social media.
The Boston native also spoke about his daughter, Coi Leray, running it back with Trippie Redd and admitting he hadn’t met the rapper yet, but his dad did, and he approves of him. The only thing that Benzino’s father mentioned is that Redd smokes “a lot.”
When asked about Leray’s dating history—specifically rappers Redd and Pressa— in a 2021 interview on VLADTVBenzino explained that he hasn’t met any of the men she has dated. He added that while his daughter is old enough to make her own choices, he doesn’t “train my mind to think about things that could possibly trigger me in a certain way” regarding her relationships.
