John Amos’ daughter still thinks there’s something suspicious about her father’s death.
TMZ reports that Shannon Amos has hired a lawyer to investigate the matter.
“The family deserves to know the full circumstances surrounding Mr. Amos’ care and the events that led to his passing. We are committed to pursuing all available avenues to ensure that these questions are answered,” her attorney, James H. Davis III, Esq. said in a statement.
“Ms. Amos and her legal team emphasize the importance of transparency in healthcare and the rights of families to access critical medical information. The investigation will continue to seek answers and accountability in this deeply personal and significant matter.”
Specifically, she’s trying to find out what date her father entered the Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Los Angeles, and why someone pretended to be John’s daughter when he was dropped off at the hospital. Shannon is John’s only daughter.
She’s also looking for more information about her dad’s condition when he was admitted to the medical facility and why the hospital hasn’t been more forthcoming about supplying her with said information. She claims she requested her dad’s medical records three times and hasn’t yet received a response, which is fishy to her and her lawyer.
Earlier this year, Shannon filed a complaint with Adult Protective Services, claiming her father was a victim of elder abuse by her brother, K.C. Amos, and wonders if the agency opened an investigation into the issue.
K.C. revealed that their father died in October—news Shannon first heard through the media. The late actor actually passed away on Aug. 21; his publicist, Belinda Foster later issued a statement that justified the delay, which blames Shannon. Foster is the same woman Shannon believes pretended to be John’s daughter at the hospital.
“At the time of his death, John was concerned that Shannon might turn his death and interment into a circus as she had done with other aspects of his life.” She added, “It was John who requested the delay in announcing his death to Shannon and the rest of the world.”
John’s cause of death was later discovered to be congestive heart failure. He was 84 years old.
