Chocolate Covered Strawberry Turkeys Thanksgiving Recipe

When I picture a table of Thanksgiving desserts, I typically imagine staples like apple, pecan, and pumpkin pie. Something that’s usually not on my radar? Chocolate-covered strawberries. But since I’m the type of person who thinks the more desserts the better, I’m not opposed to adding them into the Thanksgiving dessert rotation, especially when they look like little turkeys. One recipe by YouTuber Awesmr Pop makes for a cute Thanksgiving-themed dessert or snack that’s bound to delight guests.

While the chocolate turkeys are a pinch more tedious, they won’t take nearly as long to make as pie would. Compared to traditional chocolate-dipped strawberries, this recipe requires just two extra steps. In addition to the ingredients below, you only need a few microwave-safe bowls, a skewer, and a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Turkeys Thanksgiving Recipe

1. Using scissors, snip one corner off each of the mini marshmallows.

2. To melt the chocolate, place the milk-chocolate chips and 1/4 cup of the white-chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat the chocolate in your microwave until melted and smooth, pausing every 30 seconds to stir. Set aside.

3. In a separate microwave-safe bowl, add a few tablespoons of white-chocolate chips. Melt in the microwave and set aside. (This chocolate will be for the turkey legs later on in the process.)

4. To assemble, stick a pretzel in the smaller end of the cut marshmallows. Repeat until you have two “legs” for each of your strawberries.

5. To attach the legs to the strawberry, dip the snipped end of the marshmallow into the melted milk chocolate and white chocolate mixture. Then, stick the chocolate-dipped side of the marshmallow onto the side of the strawberry. Continue until each strawberry has a marshmallow and pretzel stick on each side.

6. Place your strawberries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then place the sheet in the fridge for about 5 minutes, or until the chocolate is completely set.

7. Once the legs are set, insert a skewer into the top of the strawberry, about an inch deep.

8. Then, using the skewer, dip the strawberry into the bowl of melted chocolates until the entire strawberry is evenly coated. Let the excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.

9. Once the strawberry is dipped, place it back on the lined baking sheet and remove the skewer.

10. When all your strawberries are dipped, place the tray into the fridge and allow the chocolate to harden.

12. Once the chocolate is entirely set, remove the strawberries from the fridge. Dip the bottom of each leg into the bowl of melted white chocolate, then place the strawberry back on the lined baking sheet. Once you’ve dipped all the legs, allow the white chocolate to set in the fridge.

13. Once the white chocolate is set, you’re all done. Enjoy!
