Apple Martin (daughter of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin)’s official debut into high society didn’t exactly go off without a hitch, after video of her at Le Bal des Débutantes saw her branded a “mean girl.” So, it seems, she did as I imagine Blair Waldorf might have done in the same situation. She made a cheeky TikTok video referencing her own saucy reputation.
The offending video showed Martin, dressed in her custom blue Valentino, appearing to push another deb, French countess Aliénor Loppin de Montmort, out of the way in order to hog the camera. The move could be viewed as either playful or Regina George-coded, and you can probably guess which direction the internet took it.

Now a few weeks later, per Page SixApple Martin appeared in her friend Ava Crox’s since-deleted TikTok video, seeming to jokingly respond to the backlash. Martin and her friends lip-synced a voiceover saying, “I don’t know how anyone has a problem with us. We are such a delight.” The audio continued, “We are two of the funniest girls and I know us, like offline.”
For what it’s worth, Loppin de Montmort has basically literally said that Martin is such a delight, telling People“[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever! She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting.”
